Queue Management
The discipline of managing the SOC's alert queue, prioritizing, batching, and clearing items so the team handles the most important alerts in time without burning out or letting noise accumulate.
Queue management is how analysts and shifts handle the constant flow of alerts: prioritizing by severity and context, batching similar items, dispositioning quickly, escalating when needed, and avoiding both backlog buildup and unnecessary deep-dives on noise. It is a foundational SOC analyst skill that determines whether the team stays effective under load. Good queue management protects both response quality and analyst wellbeing by making volume manageable.
