Actor-Based Hunting
A threat-hunting approach that builds hypotheses around a specific adversary, searching for the tools, techniques, and behaviors that group is known to use, rather than hunting for generic anomalies.
It works best when intelligence indicates a particular actor may target your organization, letting hunters model the actor's likely path and look for matching traces. The trade-off is that it can miss threats from actors you are not modeling, so teams often combine it with broader data-driven hunting.

Examples
- Hunting for the specific living-off-the-land commands a tracked group favors.
- Searching logs for persistence methods documented for a sector-targeting actor.
- Building a hunt plan from a threat report describing one group's intrusion steps.
