Ad-Hoc Requirements

One-off intelligence questions that arise outside the standing set of priority requirements, such as an urgent request to learn more about a threat actor newly seen in your environment. They need a fast, focused answer rather than ongoing collection.

Threat intelligence programs balance planned priority requirements with these unplanned requests, which often come from an active incident or a leadership question. Handling them well means scoping the question tightly and timeboxing the effort so they do not derail standing collection.

Examples

  • An incident handler asking for everything known about a specific malware family seen today.
  • An executive requesting a quick assessment of a vulnerability in the news.
  • A SOC analyst asking for context on an unfamiliar IP block during triage.
