Alert Triage
The first analytical step after an alert fires: quickly assessing what it is, whether it is a real threat or a false positive, and how urgent it is, so the right ones move into deeper investigation.
Triage is about fast, structured judgment under volume, gathering just enough context to decide disposition: close, monitor, or escalate. It is the gateway to the rest of the response, so consistent triage prevents both wasted effort on noise and missed real incidents.

Examples
- Reviewing an EDR alert, confirming the process is malicious, and escalating it.
- Dismissing a known benign scanner that triggers a network alert daily.
- Pulling the user and host context for a suspicious login before deciding to investigate.
