External Risk Sources
Risks that originate outside the organization, such as threat-actor activity, regulatory change, supply-chain and vendor risk, economic shifts, and geopolitical events, that risk identification must look beyond internal assets to capture.
Comprehensive risk identification cannot stop at internal systems; many significant risks come from outside: evolving threats, new regulations, third-party and supply-chain exposure, market and geopolitical changes. External risk sources are these outward inputs, and deliberately scanning them, through threat intelligence, regulatory tracking, and environmental analysis, ensures the risk picture reflects the full landscape rather than only what the organization controls.
