GDPR

Groups

Collections of users (or other identities) managed together in identity systems, so access can be granted to a group once rather than to each member individually, simplifying access management and enabling role-based access.

Groups bundle identities so permissions and resources can be assigned collectively: add a user to the 'Finance' group and they inherit its access, remove them and it is revoked. Groups underpin scalable, role-based access management and cleaner provisioning and deprovisioning, but they also need governance, group sprawl, nested groups, and stale membership can create hidden, excessive access that attackers and auditors both find.
