KPIs
Key performance indicators: metrics that measure how well a security program or function is performing against its objectives, used to track effectiveness, demonstrate value, and guide improvement.
KPIs are chosen measures of performance, such as mean time to detect or respond, patch timeliness, or control coverage, that show whether a security program is meeting its goals. In governance they translate activity into outcomes leadership can track, support accountability, and reveal where to improve. Good KPIs are tied to objectives, measurable, and actionable. They pair with key risk indicators (which signal risk) to give a rounded view of a program's health.
