Knowledge Capture

Recording what analysts learn, investigation steps, findings, decisions, and tradecraft, so knowledge is preserved and shared across the team rather than lost, strengthening consistency and onboarding in the SOC.

Knowledge capture is the practice of documenting and sharing what analysts know and discover: how to handle particular alerts, what past investigations found, useful queries and tradecraft, and decisions and their rationale. Captured in cases, runbooks, and knowledge bases, it keeps expertise from living only in individuals' heads, speeds onboarding, improves consistency, and feeds playbooks and detections. It is a foundational habit for a learning, resilient SOC.
