Open Source Contribution

Contributing to shared open-source detection content, rules, analytics, and tools, so detection engineers both benefit from and give back to the community, raising the collective quality of detections.

In detection engineering, open-source contribution means sharing and improving community detection resources, rule repositories (like Sigma), analytics, and tooling, rather than working only in isolation. Contributing back, and drawing on others' work, accelerates everyone's coverage, exposes detections to broader scrutiny, and builds the engineer's reputation and skills. It reflects a mature, collaborative approach to detection where the community collectively keeps pace with evolving threats.
