USB Control
Restricting how USB devices can be used on endpoints, blocking unknown storage, limiting device classes, requiring approval, to defend against data exfiltration and malicious device threats.
USB devices can carry malware in, exfiltrate data out, and serve as keyboard-emulating attack tools (BadUSB). USB control restricts these vectors: block unknown removable storage by default, allow only approved device classes, alert on attempts to use disallowed devices, and require approval for exceptions. As a system-hardening fundamentals topic, USB control is a defining endpoint-hardening practice, especially in regulated and high-sensitivity environments.
