Cross-System SoD

Separation of duties enforced across multiple systems, ensuring that a combination of access spread over different applications does not let one person complete a sensitive process alone, even when no single system shows a conflict.

Separation of duties is straightforward within one application, but real conflicts often span systems: a person who can create a vendor in one app and approve payments in another holds a toxic combination no single system sees. Cross-system SoD analysis, a core identity-governance capability, examines access across applications to detect these hidden conflicts, which are a major fraud and error risk and a frequent audit focus.

Introduced in: Identity Governance and Administration

Examples

  • Detecting that a user can create vendors in one system and approve payments in another.
  • Finding a toxic access combination spread across separate applications.
  • Flagging a cross-system conflict during an access certification review.
