PAM Program Metrics

Measures that show how well a privileged access management program is working, coverage of privileged accounts, use of just-in-time access, session recording, vaulted credentials, so the program's effectiveness is visible and improvable.

PAM program metrics quantify the program's health and value: what share of privileged accounts are vaulted and managed, how much access is just-in-time versus standing, how many privileged sessions are recorded, how many accounts remain outside PAM, and trends over time. These metrics demonstrate that privileged access is genuinely being controlled, surface gaps (unmanaged privileged accounts), and justify continued investment. They turn PAM from an assumed control into a measured, accountable program.

Introduced in: Privileged Access Management

Examples

  • Tracking the percentage of privileged accounts vaulted under PAM.
  • Measuring how much privileged access is just-in-time versus standing.
  • Reporting how many privileged accounts remain outside PAM as a gap.
