Security Program Metrics
Measures that gauge how well a security program is performing, control coverage, risk reduction, operational performance, used to demonstrate value and steer improvement at program scale.
Security program metrics aggregate measures across the program: control coverage, risk reduction over time, operational KPIs (MTTD, MTTR), incident counts and severities, awareness and posture trends. They distinguish leading from lagging indicators and tie to strategy. Built and reported well, they let leadership see program performance objectively and steer investment. As a capstone GRC deliverable, designing meaningful metrics is what turns program activity into demonstrable value.
