Case Lifecycle

The stages an investigation case moves through, from creation and triage, through investigation and response, to resolution and closure. Tracking the lifecycle keeps work flowing and ensures cases are not dropped or left open.

Each case progresses through defined states, helping analysts and managers see what stage work is in and what comes next. A clear lifecycle prevents stalled or forgotten cases, supports handoffs between shifts, and produces metrics on how cases move and where they get stuck.

Examples

  • A case moving from new, to in-progress, to resolved, to closed.
  • Handing off an in-progress case between shifts using its lifecycle state.
  • Spotting cases stuck in one stage to address bottlenecks.
