Azure Landing Zone
Microsoft's prescriptive blueprint for a secure, scalable Azure foundation, defining management group hierarchy, subscriptions, policies, identity, networking, and logging so workloads land in a governed environment by default.
An Azure landing zone applies the Cloud Adoption Framework to establish guardrails, Azure Policy, RBAC, network design, and centralized logging before workloads arrive, so security is built in rather than bolted on. It is the Azure counterpart to AWS landing-zone frameworks.
Introduced in: Cloud Security Architecture
Examples
- Organizing subscriptions under management groups with inherited Azure Policy.
- Enforcing baseline security policies across all landing-zone subscriptions.
- Centralizing diagnostic logs into a dedicated logging subscription.
