CIAM Use Cases

The customer-facing scenarios a CIAM platform must support, such as self-service registration and login, social and passwordless sign-in, profile and consent management, and progressive profiling. They define what the system actually has to do.

CIAM exists to serve concrete journeys: a customer signing up, logging in across web and mobile, linking a social account, managing privacy preferences, or recovering access, all smoothly enough that they do not give up. Clarifying these use cases drives every downstream decision, from which authentication methods to offer to which platform to choose, because the right CIAM is the one that fits how customers will actually use it.
