Device Compliance Integration

Tying access decisions to a device's compliance state in zero trust, so that only devices meeting security requirements (patched, encrypted, managed, healthy) are allowed access, and non-compliant ones are blocked or restricted.

In zero trust, the device is part of the access decision, not just the user. Device compliance integration connects endpoint management and health signals to the access policy: a device must prove it is managed, patched, encrypted, and free of obvious compromise to gain or keep access. Combined with continuous evaluation, this means a device falling out of compliance can lose access mid-session, enforcing that trust is continuously earned, not assumed.

Introduced in: Zero Trust Architecture

Examples

  • Allowing access only from devices confirmed patched and encrypted.
  • Blocking a device that has fallen out of compliance from sensitive resources.
  • Feeding endpoint health signals into the zero-trust access decision.
