IAM Gap Analysis
Assessing an organization's current identity and access management against a desired target state to identify gaps, weaknesses, missing capabilities, and risks, that the identity program needs to close.
In building an identity program, IAM gap analysis compares where identity stands today, its processes, controls, coverage, and maturity, against where it needs to be, surfacing concrete gaps like unmanaged accounts, weak provisioning, missing governance, or detection blind spots. The resulting gap list drives the program roadmap, prioritizing the most important improvements. It is the diagnostic step that grounds program design in the organization's actual deficiencies rather than assumptions.

Examples
- Comparing current IAM capabilities against a target maturity to find gaps.
- Identifying unmanaged accounts and weak provisioning as gaps to close.
